As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll provide essential technical support and data analysis to enhance our equipment management processes. Your primary focus will be on proactive diagnostic management and managing the reliability and performance of electrical systems. By collaborating with customers' reliability and maintenance personnel, Finning’s branch operations, the Engineering Management team, and Caterpillar, you'll play a key role in improving customer satisfaction.

Salary: The expected salary range is between $120,000 and $140,000 annually. This range reflects our commitment to providing competitive compensation that aligns with industry standards and your qualifications. We also offer additional incentives such as an annual bonus and premium for certain shifts.

Job Description:

  • Monitor technical scope, schedule and implement design work while ensuring the accuracy of work. Work together with other departments to achieve project targets.
  • Liaison with the project and operation teams to provide support and guidance as necessary.
  • Interface with suppliers, packagers, customers and regulatory authorities throughout the project.
  • Investigate and report on electrical system failures, including field research and data collection.
  • Analyze components' performance in terms of life, durability/reliability, and history.
  • Analyze and report electrical system performance in terms of availability and other specific KPIs.
  • Provide technical support to drive improvement projects.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on electrical system failures.
  • Produce periodical reports on various technical and operational indicators.
  • Monitor electrical system condition, including downloading and analyzing electronic information.
  • Support and drive process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support for maintenance personnel and technical problem solutions.
  • Travel to sites for commissioning electrical systems.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC or APEGA is required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in an industrial environment such as mining, oil and gas, and/or marine applications.
  • Experience with CAT electrical systems and equipment would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in Power Generation and Power System design, with emphasis on diesel and natural gas generator sets.
  • Understanding of CAT instruments: SISWEB, Dealer Connect, TMIWEB, ET, and VIMS.
  • Experience programming and commissioning automation control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA) with platforms such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, etc.
  • Knowledge of electrical system design, engineering drawings, design standards, and specifications.
  • Mechanical aptitude, including understanding of electrical system components (generators, transformers, switchgears, etc.).
  • Experience drafting electrical schematics using AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages.
  • Process excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

  • This position can be based out of any Finning office in BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
  • Permanent, full-time role.
  • 5 x 2 Monday – Friday shift.
