Senior Director, Food Safety Programs

Our client, a leading food service company, is seeking a Senior Director, Food Safety Programs. You would join the Risk Management Team, working from the corporate headquarters, reporting to the Vice President, Risk Management.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the development and ongoing advancement of the Food Safety program standards, ensuring that all relevant laws and standards are, at a minimum, complied with.
2. Establish a plan for continually advancing the Food Safety programs, including opportunities to exceed minimum legal standards.
3. Implement, organize, and maintain controls and documentation procedures.
4. Remain current on the latest research and industry advancements in food safety for the purpose of informing our program enhancement decisions.
5. Analyze food safety performance to identify trends and establish strategies to improve performance.
6. Maintain existing food safety certifications through ongoing monitoring and facilitation of regular audits. Identify opportunities to expand certifications to include broader implementation and introduction of new certifications.

Required Qualifications:

1. Minimum fifteen (15) years' experience in food safety and quality assurance in food service/retail (preferred) or food manufacturing environment.
2. Minimum five (5) years' experience leading a Food Safety team at a senior level.
3. Experience participating in professional associations, including industry magazines is preferred.
4. Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, microbiology or molecular biology, engineering, toxicology, natural science, or a related area of study. Master's degree preferred.
5. Professional certification in food safety/quality assurance preferred (example ASQ CMQ-OE).
6. Knowledge of and experience with GFSI Benchmarked schemes, experience with managing a HACCP-based food safety management system.
