ROLE: SR. DESIGN DIRECTOR - OMNI/COMMERCE

TEAM: SHOPPER/OMNI

LOCATION: TORONTO (HYBRID)

THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Senior Design Director on our Omni/Shopper team, you will lead the creative vision for campaigns that thrive in both traditional retail and digital environments. Your role is to transform concepts into visually stunning and cohesive designs that resonate with consumers and elevate our brands.

You will collaborate closely with a team of designers, creatives, and strategists, ensuring that every piece of creative work is executed at the highest level. You have a keen eye for detail, a passion for innovation, think creatively and strategically and have the ability to mentor and inspire Art Directors and Designers.

Not only will you develop the Key Visuals and kit of parts for all programs, you’ll work closely with the creative team to help ideate and develop large scale omni programs for our CPG clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creative Leadership: Develop and lead the visual and creative direction for shopper marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand standards and creative briefs.
  • Concept Development: Generate compelling ideas that drive consumer engagement across various platforms, from in-store displays to digital touchpoints.
  • Presentation and Storytelling: present campaign ideas and visual direction for all large scale programs to both the internal Salt team and our clients.
  • Design Direction: work on set to bring our campaigns to life visually. Work with photographers, food stylists, prop stylists and clients on set to execute photos for our hero campaigns.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the creative vision is consistent and effective across all channels.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the design process, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and brand consistency.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to Art Directors and Designers, fostering their growth and ensuring the development of strong, cohesive design teams.
  • Production Oversight: Ensure that all creative assets are production-ready, with an emphasis on detail, accuracy, and efficiency.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in a creative role, with a focus on design direction for shopper marketing. An understanding of shopper marketing (consumer journey, path to purchase, shopper best practices) is a must.
  • Education: College or University diploma in Graphic Design, Art Direction, or a related field.
  • Portfolio: A standout portfolio showcasing a wide range of work, including shopper marketing, art direction, omni campaigns, branding, and digital design. A focus on CPG clients is a bonus.
  • Skills: Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), AI (MidJourney, Dall-E, Adobe Firefly, etc.) with strong capabilities in Mac OS. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
  • Leadership: Proven experience leading creative teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Additional Assets: Experience in UI/UX design and knowledge of emerging design trends.
