The Opportunity
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data analytics capabilities on Azure and AWS platforms. You will apply your expertise in cloud technologies to provide administration and operational support, while also developing automation solutions for provisioning Azure services.
In this position, you will implement critical security controls and contribute to the development of value stream codebases. Your leadership skills will be critical as you guide a small team, offering technical direction and fostering collaboration. Through Agile sprints, you'll support rapid iteration, translating user needs into software requirements and maintaining robust data pipelines.
This is an exciting chance to work closely with Data Engineers, information architects, and Data Scientists to innovate and deliver high-quality solutions that drive business outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administration and operational support for Azure and AWS Cloud Data Analytics services and cloud technologies such as Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Purview, etc.
- Develop automation of provisioning Azure services and resources.
- Implement security controls on cloud PaaS and IaaS based solutions.
- Contribute to portions of value stream codebase.
- Lead a small team and provide technical guidance to junior staff and project team.
- Build, code, test, and maintain high-quality software/maintenance scripts/dashboards/reports.
- Participate in Agile sprints; support rapid iteration and development and deployment.
- Translate user requirements into software requirements.
- Support batch application jobs.
- Maintain data pipelines, application framework, and infrastructure for data generation; work closely with Data Engineers, information architects, and Data Scientists.
- Administration and supporting processes like Incident, Change & Problem Management.
- Access Control Management.
- Risk and Vulnerability Management.

What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
- Experience in Azure Data Lake Environments.
- Knowledge of data integration tools (e.g., Informatica PowerCenter, APIs, IDMC) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Excellent problem-solving skills & root cause analysis required for this job.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical partners.
- Ability to work independently and multi-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to establish relationships, engage, and influence others, working with business units, architects, peers, and partners globally.

Must Have:
- Provide technical support for enterprise data platforms, databases (SQL, Synapse SQL Pools, Mongo DB) and ensuring their optimal availability and reliability.
- Provide L2 level support for Pipelines/Batch jobs. Should be able to understand the code and provide timely resolutions and meet the SLAs.
- Demonstrable experience as an Enterprise Platform/Data Support Engineer or similar role.
- Experience in supporting technologies (i.e. Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse & Purview).
- Point of contact for downtime communication.
- Deliver training and support as required to GOCC Teams, first level support engineers, and new team members.
- Collaborate with level 1 support teams in resolving incidents.
- Experience in DevOps & CI/CD tools GitHub, Terraform, Visual Studio required.
Good to have:
- Experience with New Relic & Moogsoft monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Shell scripting for automation.

Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Salary range is expected to be between: $94,220.00 CAD - $174,980.00 CAD
