Salary Range: $44.410-$55.654 Hourly

Grade: SGEU.12.

The Ministry of Health, Medical Services Branch is seeking a self-motivated, service-oriented individual to provide data and strategic policy analysis, and program support to the Strategic Priorities Unit.

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Priorities, this position will be responsible for assessing, analyzing, and providing recommendations on key strategic initiatives/programs as well as supporting a variety of policy and quality improvement initiatives related to improving patient access to specialists.

Collaborating with Ministry of Health stakeholders, the position will play a significant role in providing strategic leadership, research, and analytical support to provincial health system priorities. As part of a team, the position will offer advice to senior leadership by leading policy development, analyzing program trends and issues, summarizing findings, providing options, and making recommendations that will inform decision-making. The position will also be responsible for implementing key strategies and improvement projects.

This position requires that the incumbent work with key stakeholders and system leaders to achieve provincial priorities while managing expectations and building consensus among stakeholders with competing interests. You will require an understanding of the provincial health system, key stakeholders and their mandates. You will also require a working knowledge of government decision-making and budget processes. It is essential that you have proficient oral and written communication skills and have the ability to think analytically and creatively to support the Ministry of Health’s vision.

Typically, knowledge for this position would be obtained through a master’s degree in public policy, health administration, or a related discipline, as well as related experience.
