What You Will Be Doing

As an experienced Credit Research Analyst, you will play a crucial role within the CIBC Asset Management Fixed Income Team. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct credit research on global investment-grade issuers. You will provide the Fixed Income Portfolio Managers with in-depth advice and consultation, both tactically and strategically, regarding sector credit exposures and security selection in the fixed income markets. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining investment theses for global bond issuers and industries.

Your research recommendations will drive investment decisions and contribute to achieving portfolio value-added objectives through ongoing dialogue with our Fixed Income Portfolio Managers and presentations to the Credit Committee.

How You Will Succeed

  1. Investment Recommendations: Develop clear, actionable investment recommendations based on underlying credit fundamentals and relative value. Proactively articulate your recommendations and ideas in a timely manner based on rigorous analysis.
  2. Communication: Present and communicate effectively both internally to the team and externally with prospects and clients of the firm.
  3. Collaboration: Engage in open and ongoing dialogue with Portfolio Managers and other Credit team members to ensure that ideas are incorporated into the respective portfolios.
  4. Relationship Building: Cultivate strong working relationships within CIBCAM to collaborate and share knowledge, develop industry views, and promote a common research framework.
  5. Industry Analysis: Work collaboratively with equity analysts in the Equity team regarding company and industry analysis.

Who You Are

  1. You have 7+ years of experience in fixed income research: including US and international companies and long/short trade ideas. You possess a strong understanding of debt/fixed income analysis and capital markets. You thrive under pressure in a trading environment.
  2. You possess strong quantitative skills: Your analysis is elevated by applying a quantamental approach to idea generation and analyzing financial and business risks.
  3. You have demonstrated experience in global investment-grade credit markets: Experience across a variety of industries, capital structures and asset classes. You maintain an established professional network in US IG credit markets.
  4. You possess strong financial and accounting skills: Completion of the CFA is preferred. You hold undergraduate, graduate, and/or post-graduate degrees in management, finance, accounting, or a STEM discipline.
  5. You are highly driven, intellectually curious, and collaborative.
  6. Your effective time management and prioritizing enable you to excel in your role.
  7. Your Influence Makes an Impact: You possess persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal, which effectively influence colleagues.
  8. You Give Meaning to Data: You can understand, explain, and resolve complex issues, demonstrating strong problem-solving and reasoning skills.
