Manulife is seeking an experienced lawyer to join the Individual Insurance and Affinity Legal Team.
The role involves providing strategic and specialized legal advice and offering practical, timely and cost-effective solutions that protect and advance Manulife’s interests in Canada.
This role reports to the VP & Chief Counsel, Individual Insurance, Affinity, and Canada Law. The individual will engage with senior legal management, leaders of related functional groups within Canada Segment, and represent Manulife in relevant industry working groups.
Responsibilities:
- Offering analysis and advice on laws and regulatory guidance in Québec and throughout Canada.
- Drafting and negotiating essential contracts with vendors, strategic partners, and plan sponsors.
- Providing guidance on insurance, commercial relationships and agreements, digital matters, privacy concerns, and technology-related issues.
- Supporting the development of digital-focused and customer-centric insurance products and services.
- Collaborating with business partners to achieve our business objectives.
- Assessing business needs and providing innovative legal solutions to manage risks.
- Participating in a collaborative environment and contributing to a diverse range of issues.
- Collaborating with various legal teams and colleagues in Compliance, Government Relations Canada, Privacy & Cyber, and Anti-Fraud as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- A member of the Barreau du Québec with over five years of meaningful experience.
- Expertise in the Civil Code of Québec.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English, capable of influencing all levels of the organization, including senior management.

Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Salary range is expected to be between: $117,740.00 CAD - $218,660.00 CAD
