About the Position:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Cost Controller to join our team in North America eastern region. This role requires a deep understanding of the North American eastern region construction industry specially on industrial, oil and gas projects. This role involves overseeing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring that costs are managed effectively and within budget. The position will be reporting to Project Controls Manager, and coordinate with team working in head office in Norway.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cost control procedures and systems for construction projects.
- Develop and implement Cost Work Breakdown Structure considering geographic locations of the facilities.
- Ability to convert and recast estimates to control budgets for project manager approval.
- Collect, analysis, monitor project budgets, incurred cost, expenditures.
- Understand forecast methodologies inline earned value management system.
- Establish and monitor progressing system on mega EPC project.
- Prepare and present regular cost reports for project managers and senior management.
- Identify and analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Review and approve project invoices in payment applications.
- Conduct regular site visits to verify progress and understand the construction.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Establish cost trends and change management system and analysis while preparing project forecast.
- Participate in and support Cost Risk Analysis sessions by providing uncertainties ranges for quantities, unit rate, production rates and risk events.
- Adhere to the established policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, Finance or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost control within the construction industry.
- Overall, 5 years’ experience in major construction projects (over 1.0 $BUSD).
- Certification as a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) through the AACE would be an asset.
- Experience with large-scale construction industrial and/or Oil & Gas projects.
- Proficient in Excel building macro, formulas and power queries, Power BI, databases, and ability to process and analyze large volumes of data.
- Strong knowledge of engineering, construction processes, materials, and cost estimation are an advantage.
- Knowledge of cost control software like Omega 365, PIMS and ecosys is ad added advantage.
- Proficiency in implementing continuous enhancement and contributing to team success.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, communication, interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team and pay attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Familiarity with scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera) and proficiency in constructing precise schedules review.
- Aptitude for performing accurate quantity takeoffs both manually and electronically.
- Basic accounting skills useful for the job are an advantage
