As a Senior Coordinator, Landscape Construction Approvals, you will be responsible for shaping and applying consistent process management for all landscape construction approvals of internal City of Calgary projects, external development applications, and all other development work affecting Public Spaces Delivery. You will support a team of Coordinators and manage high profile projects including those with a high degree of complexity and responsibility. Primary duties include:
- Coordinate significant landscape construction projects, balancing the priorities and expectations of multiple internal and external audiences.
- Review and approve landscape construction drawings, concepts, and outline plans, ensuring compliance with and appropriate application of City policies, bylaws, and provincial and federal legislation.
- Support a team of coordinators, monitor project timelines, and ensure review timelines and quality and service standards are achieved.
- Represent Parks and Open Spaces at client meetings and in public consultation.
- Provide subject matter expertise and direction for Parks Development standards, guidelines and specifications.
- Support consultation and negotiation with developers and development participants.
- Support the Lead with updating and creating standards and specifications for the industry partners and all city capital projects.
- Provide landscape architecture expertise and consultation on complex or sensitive development projects with internal or external partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business units and external industry partners; respond promptly to inquiries.
Qualifications
- A degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field and at least 5 years of experience in the design and development of parks and open spaces; OR
- A master's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in the design and development of parks and open spaces.
- Must be eligible for membership with the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects.
- Experience with the review and approval process for planning and development is required.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalency) and the use of a personal vehicle is required.
- You have effective communication, conflict management and consensus-building skills.
- You can manage competing service demands and internal priorities.
Working Conditions: Primarily office environment with some driving for site visits and client consultation.
