What you’ll be doing

The Global Operations Risk Management (GORM) Portfolio Management Group acts as a second line of defense (2LOD), ensuring that the bank's operational risk and control frameworks, policies, standards and procedures are understood and used effectively to manage operational risk. This includes working with assigned lines of businesses to identify, measure, mitigate and monitor operational risk. The Operational Resilience team is part of GORM Portfolio Management.

As Senior Consultant, Operational Resilience, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the bank’s most critical products and services during times of disruption. Reporting to the Director, Operational Resilience, you will assist with the oversight, governance, effective challenge, of the Operational Resilience team in the 1LOD and play a key role in initiatives to advance CIBC’s operational resilience and ensure regulatory compliance.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. Details on your work arrangement will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How you’ll succeed

  • Oversight and governance – You will provide oversight, governance, and effective independent challenge to the Operational Resilience Team in the first line of defense, and assist in the evolution of reporting, developing metrics, key performance indicators, and key risk indicators to support oversight.

  • Regulatory compliance oversight – You will be responsible for monitoring the global regulatory and industry landscape to ensure CIBC is aligned with evolving requirements, communicating regulatory developments to key stakeholders, participating in regulatory gap assessments, leading regulatory risk assessments, and ensuring appropriate controls are in place to mitigate regulatory compliance risk.

  • Relationship building – You will collaborate cross-functionally, working closely with a broad range of stakeholders across first and second lines, globally. Building strong relationships across risk management, compliance, technology, business continuity, operations and business teams.
