Senior Consultant, Federal Government Relations Practice

We’re looking for an ambitious individual to join the Enterprise Canada team in Ottawa. Working with the Enterprise Canada Team, you will assist our clients in working with the federal government and preparing them to navigate the next election.

This role offers an opportunity to tackle some of the most pressing and complex issues affecting Canada today. You’ll work with multinational corporations, national companies, government bodies, and associations. We’re seeking an experienced government relations professional to lead client files, conduct insightful research, communicate effectively, and develop impactful strategic plans that deliver measurable results.

A strong understanding of the political environment and deep writing skills are a must. Previous experience working in government relations or a related space will be highly valued.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Craft and implement strategies for government engagement, public affairs, and advocacy
  2. Build and sustain productive relationships with government stakeholders, industry partners, and clients
  3. Monitor and analyze current events, political developments, and major policy trends across Canada
  4. Design and execute integrated campaigns incorporating policy advocacy, media relations, and/or digital strategies
  5. Manage client relationships, including coordinating meetings and ensuring projects align with expectations
  6. Draft policy briefings, speeches, press materials, and digital content
  7. Ensure adherence to lobbying and ethics standards for public affairs professionals
  8. Prepare responses to RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and contribute to developing pitches for new business

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience in government relations, politics, or public affairs
  2. Post-secondary education or equivalent relevant experience
  3. Strong knowledge of current affairs, political actors, and public policy issues in Canada
  4. Ability to provide strategic advice and guidance
  5. Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely
  6. Advanced research and analytical abilities
  7. Capability to lead client files, manage projects effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks
  8. Strong interpersonal skills to build and sustain client relationships
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  10. Additional language skills or research experience are considered valuable assets
