What you will do...

1. Underwrite and negotiate medium complexity new business, renewals, and policy endorsements.
2. Prepare terms and conditions of insurance quotations and policies.
3. Work within defined limits of authority to provide high quality underwriting decisions.
4. Identify trends in submissions and communicate findings to leadership.
5. Negotiate terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers.
6. Order inspections or other underwriting information for analyzing critical risk hazards.
7. Implement market strategies and assist in development of products, pricing, and services.
8. Provide expertise and guidance to coworkers and distributors, aid in account underwriting, and assist junior staff.
9. Prepare analysis and recommendations, recognizing exposure or gaps in coverage.
10. Ensure compliance of product line with established principles.
11. Work with other product line underwriters on an overall account approach.

What you will bring...

1. Minimum 5 years’ property casualty underwriting experience.
2. General knowledge of other product lines, particularly commercial automobile.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of government regulations.
4. Post secondary degree or diploma.
5. CIP and/or FCIP designation, or willingness to pursue, is an asset.
6. Familiarity with Guidewire is preferable but not required.
7. Experience to grow business profitability through analysis of individual risks.
8. Ability to work with customers and colleagues from a range of backgrounds.
9. Enthusiasm to learn and ability to thrive within a team or independently.
10. Effective negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
11. Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
12. Goal-oriented, with a growth mindset.
