Job Description
We are currently seeking a qualified Senior Civil Engineer to join our Energy team, based out of Calgary, AB. The Sr. Civil Engineer performs assignments that will require professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Exercises professional engineering judgment in performing assigned tasks. Using prescribed methods, performs specific portions or all of a large project. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participates in development of conceptual designs, studies, reports, and proposals
- Performs civil analysis and design using predetermined methods from conceptual to detailed engineering stages
- Designs stormwater management including surface and deep undergrounds, storm water ponds, and oily water systems
- Responsible for the design of roads, grading, granular tank foundations, and sanitary sewers
- Involved in constructability and model reviews
- Collaborates with other team members to ensure safe and cost-effective design
- Compiles, verifies, and correlates data relating to engineering problems
- Participates in preparation of specifications, work packages, and other related procurement documents
- Assists in development and verification of project control documents and status reports
- Assists in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs, and change orders
- Participates in reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data by other Engineer/Specialists or by suppliers
- Accurately applies codes and specifications
- Applies knowledge of design standards and guides applicable to CSA
- Coordinates with all disciplines, field personnel, clients, or vendors
- Performs intra-discipline coordination
- Provides quality control of design
- Demonstrates leadership, respect, and commitment to quality

- Understands roles played by other disciplines on the project
- Additional duties as required
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited university
- Registered as Professional Engineer with APEGA
- 10+ years of work experience in the analysis and design of roads and drainage systems in energy or mining sectors
- Proficiency using Civil 3D preferred
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
JOB DIMENSIONS:
Decisions: Decisions concerning day-to-day activities, fundamental design direction based on codes and industry standards.
Supervision Received: Minimal supervision from project lead or project manager.
Supervision Exercised: Provides technical direction as appropriate to civil designers and junior civil engineers.
Contacts: Maintains contact with the immediate work group or discipline and interfaces with other disciplines as required. May interface with field personnel or vendor representatives to gather or give information as specifically directed.
