SUMMARY:
Lantic is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Buyer based at our Vancouver facility. Reporting to the Corporate Procurement Director, the Senior Buyer is responsible for managing and supporting the purchasing process of the goods and services for Vancouver’s plant. These purchasing processes are required to maintain the operations and daily requirements for production at the refinery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and execute all purchasing requests for non-production items (Maximo).
Manage and purchase production items such as packaging material and chemicals (Navision).
Support Major Maintenance Requests and CAPEX projects.
Local Contracts: connect with and support stakeholders to maximize their involvement in the analysis of the commercial offers, survey the current contract, look for opportunities, and lead the negotiation (Cost and T&Cs). Follow up on acknowledgements, deliveries, etc.
RFQs: analyze & challenge suppliers to improve landed cost.
Maintain excellent business relations with current suppliers.
Research, analyze, and qualify new sources of purchasing.
Support internal customers in achieving their objectives.
Coordinate with relevant teams on activities in connection with Purchasing (Duties/brokerage/transport warehousing).
Support & replace, if needed, within the Purchasing Dept.
Evaluate suppliers on a yearly basis.
Participate in departmental meetings & its improvement.
Report cost savings and cost avoidance monthly.
Participate and support the annual budget process.
Coordinate production tests.
Participate in the Non-Conformance process.
Make inventory adjustments based on physical count.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in purchasing/procurement or administration or equivalent experience.
10+ years’ experience in a Purchasing position.
Knowledge of the suppliers for maintenance and services.
Excellent knowledge of Office, Outlook, Maximo, Navision; Knowledge and adherence to ISO, HACCP, and FSSC22000 programs considered an asset.
Knowledge of the packaging products market is an asset.
Good knowledge of commercial terms related to purchasing contracts and of technical aspects of Purchasing & Procurement.
Key knowledge of the market for maintenance parts (plumbing, electrical, electronic, construction material...).
Excellent knowledge of both Canadian and Global markets for sourcing supplies in the industrial sector.
Strategic thinker, strong ability to solve problems and define action plans; Results-oriented.
Autonomy, good priority management, sense of responsibility.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
