Your mission and responsibilities:

  • Supply of materials based on customer requirements at the lowest price whilst ensuring quality and on-time delivery.
  • Implement Commodity strategies to ensure long-term, cost-efficient supply of materials.
  • Implement and ensure usage of globally defined methods, processes and systems to ensure high process efficiency and process compliance (e.g. compliant Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) process, Procurement guidelines, IT systems).
  • Monitor the markets worldwide to create a basis for deciding the optimum sourcing strategy and cooperate with the best suppliers.
  • Define and implement Procurement strategies (which are not covered by Commodity strategies) based on conducted demand, market and supplier analysis to ensure long-term, cost-efficient and reliable on-time supply of materials in the required quality.
  • Prepare and conduct negotiations for medium to high Purchasing Volumes to obtain highest feasible savings.
  • Generate, document and implement savings, e.g. CNI; plan, monitor and report on relevant KPI to contribute to the success of the business and make results transparent.
  • Support Supplier Management processes (e.g. qualification, selection, evaluation, development, classification); update supplier evaluation systems to obtain and develop the best suppliers and ensure transparency.
  • Ensure a close cooperation with Internal Customers (requisitioners) to ensure customer care and early involvement.

Your qualifications and experiences:

  • 7 + years in Procurement and or Supply Chain related positions, Engineering Degree (mechanical or electrical), good working knowledge of the rolling stock industry.
  • Adept at analyzing, interpreting, structuring, and presenting complex data. Experienced in navigating complex environments with interdependencies and uncertainties. Successfully executes ambitious tasks, independently selecting optimal solutions. Finds solutions for broad organizational/professional issues and unpredictable problems.
  • Experienced in applying data analytics methods and tools; knowledgeable in a broad range of relevant technologies. Applies analytics to complex domain problems and unsolved issues, defining new applications. Develops standardized and automated solutions, processes complex data sets, and visualizes results effectively. Aware of current trends in data analytics.
  • Ability to identify and implement measures to ensure the adherence of the suppliers to the requirements of Compliance.
  • Understands and applies contract templates; adjusts them for complex situations and coordinates with Legal for deviations. Secures customer contract requirements in supplier contracts. Has detailed knowledge of legal terms and their impact on business relationships. Ensures proper utilization and implementation of concluded contracts.
  • Knows the cost structure of one's own commodity in detail and leverages improvement potentials. Calculates and compares the cost line of supplier offers as decision criteria for optimal ANC/e-Auction designs. Minimizes the suppliers’ cost by putting of relevant instruments and levers (technical and commercial) to good use.
  • Ability to conduct detailed demand analysis within global material field, considering quantitative and qualitative aspects. Independently performs global market analyses, understands market drivers and trends, and knows supplier capabilities and business situations. Analyzes complex situations and recognizes likely consequences and actions.
  • Independently prepares material field strategies; coordinates with higher-level networks as needed. Anticipates obstacles, plans, and develops reliable implementation plans. Identifies and excels in applying the most effective procurement levers, systematically using multiple levers simultaneously.
  • Has an overview of manufacturing processes along the supply chain (from suppliers’ suppliers to customers’ customers) and understands how the main manufacturing parameters drive the product costs.
  • Understands support and procurement processes; executes complete supplier management, including classification, strategic status, and development. Familiar with suppliers' strategic plans, drives continuous improvement actions, and uses the Digital Supplier Manager Companion when applicable.
  • Ability to handle typical supplier objections; familiar with Siemens sustainability program and strategy. Implements measures to ensure supplier contributions to sustainable procurement, including social and environmental factors in supplier selection criteria.
  • Able to clarify ambiguous problems by questioning assumptions for better understanding. Uses problem-solving methods and tools to diagnose and solve issues. Analyzes alternatives, risks, and benefits for potential solutions. Proactively anticipates and prevents problems, managing solution implementation as projects.
  • Possesses profound knowledge and broad experience; analyzes, interprets, and presents complex data. Integrates knowledge from various fields and participates in top-level discussions on the topic.
