Job description

Our client is looking for a Senior Buyer with packaging experience to join their team on-site within Kingsville (Windsor ON). The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as Buyer, Purchasing and Inventory Control. We are seeking an individual with extensive experience in a fast-paced environment, particularly within the produce or food industry or CPG.

Position Title: Senior Buyer
Reports to: Purchasing and Inventory Control Manager
Location: Kingsville, Ontario

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain strategic sourcing documents and acquire in-depth subject matter expertise and market intelligence for category.
  2. Independently and confidently coordinate highly complex multi-functional strategies.
  3. Manage, develop, and nurture supplier relationships to maximize long-term Total Cost of Ownership and minimize business risk.
  4. Identify problems and find creative solutions to meet customer demands.
  5. Ensure timely and accurate entry and confirmation of purchase orders to support assigned duties.
  6. Expedite Purchase Orders as required to meet stakeholder requirements and timelines.
  7. Oversee Direct and Indirect Spend categories including Corrugate, Resin, Labels, MRO, Services, and Capex supplies.
  8. Build RFQ’s, search suppliers, and issue and award BIDs to provide the best cost benefit to the company.
  9. Prepare and present reports regarding market conditions and organizational spend to Senior Management.
  10. Analyze inventories to increase inventory flow, reduce waste, and develop appropriate min/max levels.
  11. Ensure efficient storage and inventory control.
  12. Update Purchasing and Inventory Manager on any current or foreseeable inventory issues.
  13. Accurately track and monitor all open purchase orders.
  14. Work with cross-functional teams and assist the Inventory Control team with maintaining proper inventory levels.
  15. Perform any other job duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in a Senior Buyer/Intermediate role.
  2. Strong negotiation skills with Suppliers.
  3. Packaging Experience.
  4. Strong time management skills with an emphasis on meeting deadlines.
  5. Highly energetic and assertive with strong leadership skills.
  6. Experience in leading and managing a team.
  7. Advanced MS Office skills (Excel).
  8. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Physical Abilities:

  1. Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods.
  2. Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
  3. Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50 lbs.
  4. Must be able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period.
  5. Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 ˚C / 55 ˚F.

Type of Employment: Full time, permanent, extended hours depending on workload and priorities, which will include Saturdays.
