Senior Buyer

About the Senior Buyer Role:
Act as a contact for suppliers. Negotiate contracts, terms, and deadlines with vendors and suppliers. Manage goods delivery in a timely manner.

1. Build relationships with key suppliers. Ensure continuity of supply and cost reduction.
2. Identify risks from the ever-evolving procurement environment, set up and implement a risk mitigation plan to maintain consistent supply levels.
3. Maintain database of Components, determine stock levels in distribution and monitor availability of components and stock longevity.
4. Organize periodic supplier audits and evaluation, ensuring continuation of suitable suppliers on approved suppliers register.
5. Develop strategies that strengthen the quality of the organisation's relationship with the supply base by identifying opportunities to continuously improve the effectiveness of communications and supplier relationship building activities in association with ISO9001/IATF 16949 requirements.
6. Promote and encourage cross-functional participation from all areas of the Sales, Engineering, Production, Finance, and Quality Team.
7. Actively manage sourcing activities relating to business models, via management of RFQ, key sourcing processes, and quotation analysis/negotiation.
8. Ensure quality of procured items and address problems when they arise using quality problem-solving techniques such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.
9. Compile and maintain purchase records, supplier databases, and procurement contracts.

As a Senior Buyer, you will have the following skills and experience:

• Strong expertise in Engineering Procurement.
• Able to benchmark market pricing and negotiate revised terms with the supplier base accordingly.
• Familiarity with internal MRP systems.
• Hard working spirit, can deliver to tight deadlines and workplace pressures.
• Results-oriented; proactive, can-do work attitude.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
• Able to be a credible ambassador for the team.
• Strong office system skills (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
• Strong engineering background and able to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD.
• Good understanding of ISO9001 systems in relation to the Purchasing and Supply function, ideally IATF 16949.
• Ability to analyse large quantities of data and produce subsequent reports from this data.

Mon - Thurs 07:15 - 4:30pm
Fri 07:15 - 12:15pm
