Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have an 8-month opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst. This role can be based out of one of our main offices including: Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

As a Senior Business Analyst with Sobeys, you will:

  1. Act as a liaison and strategic partner to our business stakeholders to effectively guide them through our intake, road mapping and prioritization processes.
  2. Execute on all Business Analysis activities/artifacts via our standardized Discovery gate.
  3. Direct the development of business and system requirements through detailed analysis and by providing recommendations.
  4. Work closely with the Application Developers to provide all system requirements translation and lead the high level design of the solution.
  5. Participate in the leadership and influence cross-functional task forces or teams to identify and document functional requirements, workflow, information sources, and system specifications.
  6. Hold requirements gathering sessions by identifying the right participants, preparing the appropriate material, reviewing the project scope, and identifying key assumptions.
  7. Coordinate the development of comprehensive business cases with cost and benefit dimensions for proposed Information Technology projects that are used at management and executive levels for funding and scope decisions.
  8. Develop and establish service level agreements.
  9. Perform market research of emerging/available product functionality.
  10. Assess scope and impact of client business needs and manage client expectations.
  11. Act as a liaison between Business and IT teams to effectively manage enhancement product backlog items (intake, prioritization, resourcing).
  12. Meet regularly with the user groups in all divisions to identify opportunities for enhancements.
  13. Communicate functional developments and enhancements to user groups through various media (Web, Email, On-site training).
  14. Contribute to the acceptance of applications and application enhancements via a formal test process.
  15. Seek final sign-off of the detailed system requirements from the business sponsor.
  16. Improve business processes by defining the existing “As-Is” process and the new “To-Be” process using proper methodologies.
  17. Process documentation and testing.

What you have to offer:

Your experience and resume will show us:

  1. Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Business Experience with project management and software development disciplines.
  2. Knowledge of emerging or available retail product functionality and solutions.
  3. Extensive experience gathering business requirements, business process reengineering, application testing and project management.
  4. IIBA Certification would be considered an asset.
