Our client is a well-established and highly regarded boutique Architectural and Design firm with offices in Calgary and Vancouver. Our client is seeking a Senior Architectural Technologist with a Diploma in Architectural Technologies and at least 7 years of experience, including retail projects. The ideal candidate is proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, and Illustrator, with Revit as an asset, and has a strong track record in consultant coordination, contract administration, and client management. Qualifications:
- Diploma or certificate from a recognized technical school.
- Minimum 5-7 years (aggregate) experience in Canada.
- 3 years of local / regional experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit (current versions).
- Understanding of Autodesk Revit Add-on programs (energy modelling, etc.)
- Working knowledge of local building codes and bylaws.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assemble complete sets of construction drawings and building permit packages for small to medium sized projects.
- Communicate with design staff regarding transition from design to construction drawings.
- Communicate with engineering consultants and provide feedback.
- Read and understand engineering drawings.
- Submit building permits.
- Communicate, correspond, and coordinate with the authorities having jurisdiction, clients and consultants.
Skills:
Drafting:
- Full understanding of drafting standards and techniques.
- Effective and independent with Revit / CAD software.
- Accuracy and speed with attention to detail.
- Able to explain drafting conventions and standards to junior personnel.
- Able to accurately determine the time required to complete drawing and detailing scope of work.
- Flexible in tasks / design and technical drawing.
Technology:
- Working knowledge of building codes and what they regulate.
- Working knowledge of building systems – i.e. Structural, Mechanical and Electrical - and their inter-relationship with architectural technology.
- Working knowledge of wall, roof and floor technology in dealing with water, thermal, air, and vapour barriers.
- Working knowledge of concrete, masonry, wood, and metal systems, and related technology.
- Working knowledge of specifications / able to generate simple outline specifications.
- The ability to generate construction documents / construction details.
