The Opportunity:
We have a new opportunity for you to join the WSP Ontario Archaeology team as a Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager based out of our Ottawa, Kingston, or Cornwall offices.
A day in the life:
As a Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager on the WSP E&I Canada Limited team you will:
Assist with all aspects of archaeological assessment requirements aligned with the Ontario Heritage Act, Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM), National Capital Commission, and Parks Canada.
Research, prepare, and submit proposals and reports for a variety of archaeological projects.
Perform project management, overseeing project scope, budgets, schedules and quality, leading client and stakeholder communications, delegating to and monitoring support staff.
Provide visible leadership by promoting health and safety in your projects and teams.
Provide senior technical oversight and review of technical reports to meet MCM and WSP quality standards.
Work collaboratively with the Field Operations Lead to arrange internal resources and logistics for your projects.
Mentor archaeological staff within the department.
Support business development activities.
Interact with clients, government personnel, and members of Indigenous Nations.
Analyze artifacts and provide interpretation of data.
What you’ll bring to WSP E&I Canada Limited:
Professional License to conduct archaeological fieldwork in good standing from the MCM.
Master’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field.
10+ years of experience in consulting archaeology in Ontario (Stages 1 – 4).
Detailed working knowledge of Ontario archaeology with an applied understanding of current Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists issued by the MCM.
Capable of delivering quality work in a deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision.
Able to follow and implement both technical and safety training and instructions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to obtain Provincial and Federal Security Clearance.
A valid Canadian driver’s licence with satisfactory driving record, per WSP's driving policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expert knowledge of Ontario historical period and/or Indigenous material culture.
Membership with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP).
Experience with management of archaeological resources on federal properties.
