Job Summary
The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for leading innovative solutions within the Application Engineering Group. This role includes validating products for specific use cases, designing, and implementing customer-specific hardware and software, and developing applications to showcase Delta IBT products in new markets. The position involves cross-functional collaboration, strategic decision-making, and mentoring junior team members.
Work Location: In Office (Currently 3 days a week, subject to change)

Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $88,000 - $116,000
This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside this range and is dependent on various factors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and implement cross-brand product solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Product Development to identify and drive strategic opportunities.
- Lead beta testing efforts at customer sites, ensuring solutions meet design specifications.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including white papers and technical training materials.
- Manage projects and contracts for application engineering efforts.
- Conduct research on cutting-edge technologies to improve product offerings.
- Act as a subject matter expert for application demos and product presentations.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party devices and software with Delta IBT products.
- Mentor and guide intermediate and junior engineers.
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Authority
The Senior Application Engineer has the authority to review and sign-off for numerous steps in product solution development process, including:
- Conceptual Design.
- Detail Design.
- Implementation.
Required skills and abilities
- Excellent communication (verbal, written, and presentation) coupled with strong interpersonal skills both in one-on-one and in group settings.
- Strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn advanced tools and technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively.
- Forward thinking and excellent analytical skills.
Preferred skills and abilities
- Working knowledge of building controls and control theory.
- Background using Delta IBT systems and tools, including Node-RED, Python, and GCL+.
- Background with sensors, wireless technologies and IoT systems.
- Experience working in an electronic design/manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of sustainable energy standards and building practices (e.g. LEED, WELL, Guideline36).
- Experience working with quality management systems and in an electronic design/manufacturing environment.
Key Attributes and experience
- Years of relevant experience required: 5-7 years.
- Degree in Electrical, Computer, Integrated or Mechanical engineering or applicable technology or Diploma in Robotics, Instrumentation, Computer Control or other applicable technology.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver complex engineering projects.
