Here is what you will be doing:
Program Initiatives (PI) is part of the Primary and Community-Based Care portfolio at Ontario Health. Employing a collaborative and cross-programmatic approach, the PI team leads large-scale, complex, cross-programmatic projects to address quality, access, capacity and measurement gaps at the system level, often requiring significant change management. Foundational to the PI work is the development and implementation of new models of care initiatives that focus on identifying opportunities to optimize the use of health human resources, care settings, and technology to re-configure and streamline teams, processes, and structures.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
The Senior Analyst will play a significant role on a cross-functional team, supporting large-scale projects to modernize cancer screening programs in Ontario. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for developing a variety of analyses, communications, presentations, and other project deliverables that are complex or ambiguous in nature. Project management experience in a healthcare environment is strongly preferred. The Senior Analyst must have strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills and an understanding of project management tools and approaches for managing complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives. This individual must have strong organization skills to ensure that team requests are appropriately prioritized. This individual must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Provides substantial support in all aspects of the project lifecycle, including management of project scope, schedule, and risks
- Supports the project manager/lead in managing project working group meetings and activities; lead some project workstreams or smaller projects independently
- Creates project deliverables, including project management artifacts such as project charters, schedules and roadmaps
- Consults and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders on project deliverables including facilitating working sessions with key stakeholders to gather the required information, and facilitating formal reviews and approvals
- Leads the analysis of information to complete project deliverables, where the process/problem being investigated is complex or ambiguous in nature
- Develops and monitors adherence to project schedules; tracks and reports on project progress, including providing forecasts of final delivery timeline, and identification and resolution of schedule risks
- Identifies problems proactively and recommends thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of complex problems
- Develops and presents material (like process flows, current state assessments, impact assessments, requirements document) using excellent written and verbal communications skills, with ability to express complex concepts effectively
- Supports the development and maintenance of project and portfolio management standards (including processes and tools)
- Works with staff from across Cancer Screening, Prevention and Ontario Health, including administrative and clinical leadership, on cross-functional, collaborative projects
- Provides training and consultation on project management standards and best practices
- Provides coaching to junior team members
- Proactively shares knowledge across project teams, as appropriate
- Demonstrates OH core values to support team building and collaboration with other business units
- Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested
- Facilitate knowledge transfer and exchange and proactively share knowledge across internal teams as appropriate
- Develop and maintain project and work plans to ensure completion of deliverables on time, and escalate project risks as appropriate
- Research, analyze and generate information and maintain a detailed knowledge of data to support quality improvement initiatives, strategic implementation, and performance monitoring
Education and Experience:
- An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences, Health Administration, Health Informatics or related field
- Master’s degree in one of the above disciplines is an asset
- Certificate in project management (CAPM or PMP) is an asset
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, with 3 years in an analyst capacity
- Experience working on projects is required
- Experience in a health care setting is strongly preferred
- Experience conducting analysis in a project or operational setting
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with leading complex work packages or workstreams of large-scale projects using project management methodologies and tools
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a hands-on manner
- Ability to anticipate, prioritize, and effectively respond to issues as they arise
- Superior ability to analyze and define problems and risks, evaluate alternatives and options, find solutions and mitigation strategies, and make recommendations for action
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and communication skills, including the ability to present complex information and facilitate cross-functional working group discussions
- Strong relationship-building skills, with demonstrated experience engaging and building relationships and consensus among diverse stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with excellent organization and time management skills
- Highly motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines
- Ability to work in an environment with competing priorities
- Willing to take on stretch opportunities like leading a working group on an interim basis
- Flexible, adaptable and comfortable with some ambiguity in work
- Ready to roll up sleeves and get into the details
- Strong computer skills, including the MS Office suite; knowledge of MS Project is an asset
