Team & Job Overview
At EDC, we’re not just about data; we’re about people. Our HR Insights & Governance team is at the apex of our HR Operations and HR Strategy groups, working together in OneHR – to shape the future of our organization. We’re looking for a Senior Advisor to join our team, who partners well with stakeholders, who can facilitate and drive governance within the People and Culture function and take the lead on HR Policy compliance, including identifying opportunities for change to ensure program efficiencies and effectiveness.
HR Insights & Governance team activities include:
- Designing, implementing and monitoring a variety of human resource strategies, policies, and programs including Workforce Planning, Learning and Development, Talent Acquisition, Diversity, Equity Inclusion & Accessibility, Employee Wellness, Performance Management, Succession Planning, and Culture (Employee Pulse Surveys, etc.).
- Gleaning insights from People metrics that matter and that drive meaningful people-centric programs and policies at EDC, our goal is the enablement of informed decisions leading to improved organizational outcomes.
- Providing consultative support for HR teams as well as acts as the primary point of contact for EDC business stakeholders requiring HR Insights.
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic HR professional, to join our team as a Senior Advisor. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of human resources policies, enterprise risk management, and HR program governance, for a role crucial in safeguarding a positive employee experience, while also navigating complex organizational landscapes. The successful candidate will:
- Ensure human resources programs are delivered in compliance with policies, guidelines, legislation and regulations, including leading the charge for HR standards, practices, and policies to ensure alignment with required policy, legislation, and compliance frameworks.
- Support the People and Culture function by designing, implementing and/ormonitoring a variety of human resource policies and instruments, governing human resources operations and strategic programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- HR Program and Policy Insights: Investigate complex hypotheses using a wide range of HR policies and documents to discover underlying causes of key business issues and identify opportunities to enhance employee engagement and/or improve business performance.
- Policy Development & Implementation: Develop procedures and interpret and apply policy for areas of expertise to achieve specified outputs or advise the wider People and Culture function on the application of policy, then monitor implementation within the group.
- Risk and Issue Management: Lead and contribute to initiatives related to identification and evaluation of risks, operational loss, issues, non-compliances, and constraints, escalating where appropriate.
- Internal Client Relationship Management: Manage relationships within People and Culture function and act as an advisor, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust.
- Operational Compliance: Monitor and review behaviors within People and Culture function to identify and resolve non-compliance with policies and relevant regulatory codes and standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Review existing operations in People and Culture function and implement innovative processes to generate new ideas and ensure the required continuous improvement outcomes are delivered.
- Documentation Governance: Own and lead document governance, including inventorying and organization to support our team’s documentation needs; includes collaborating with and adhering to Privacy, Content Management and other guidelines and processes.
Specific Projects or Tasks:
- HR Policy Advisor: Provide specialist HR advice on the interpretation and application of policies, procedures, programs, and/or products, resolving complex or contentious queries and issues and enabling others to take appropriate actions. This includes advising on remedial action for breaches of the HR policy; identifying emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making; establishing relationships and collaborating with Legal to assist and advise on new or changing regulations; and identifying potential legislative compliance issues and opportunities for innovative program efficiencies.
- Risk and ESG Lead: Lead Risk Management and ESG initiatives and reporting, including the development and delivery of response plans, risk scenario modeling, and the identification and evaluation of risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints. This includes overseeing People and Culture Risk Taxonomy, providing insights and preparing reports to support business decisions. This role acts as main HR Point of Contact for all Enterprise Risk Management and ESG practices and initiatives.
- HR Program Governance: Drive HR Governance and Compliance to ensure the HR team is compliant with legislative responsibilities, policies and procedures, including leading, managing and maintaining an HR Playbook that includes frameworks and tools for People and Culture programs. This also includes preparing quarterly compliance and other required external and internal reports, including contributions to Annual reports.
Screening Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law or related field.
- Minimum seven (7) years of work experience in Human Resources, as a generalist or across multiple disciplines providing HR advisory services, talent management support, and/or HR compliance/case management.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in corporate governance, policy development, risk management, law, business or related field.
Experience
- Demonstrated strong understanding of HR compliance management, including laws, regulations, and policy frameworks. Extensive experience in drafting and advising on HR frameworks and tools for talent acquisition and management, total rewards and benefits, learning and development, and employee relations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in developing, implementing and advising on policies, procedures, and related guidelines to ensure compliance with external requirements. Skilled in researching existing and emerging legislative requirements and ability to advice on the interpretation and application of policies, procedures and programs.
- Proficiency in identifying and evaluating risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints, and developing and supporting solutions to overcome these. Demonstrated political acuity and ability to manage highly sensitive information and situations with discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, with a high degree of tact and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Compensation Details:
- HR Generalist 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 plus a performance-based incentive based on qualifications and experience.
