Position: Senior Advisor, Employee Communications
Employment Type: Permanent
Compensation Details:
- Communications 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, Toronto or Montreal.
- Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview:
Do you understand the importance of corporate communications as an integral component of business success and strategic alignment across the organization? If you are passionate about bringing an organization together to share knowledge, fuel innovation and foster a positive and engaged working culture, then we want to hear from you. This Senior Advisor, Employee Communications role reports to the Manager, Employee Communications and is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications plans, focusing on enhancing existing corporate programs and developing new initiatives tied to corporate priorities and EDC’s 2030 strategy.
The Employee Communications team is comprised of trusted advisors responsible for engaging employees on EDC’s business, Corporate Strategy, and Corporate Culture, and connecting employees to key tools and services as well as to each other. The Senior Advisor will focus on internal communications related to EDC’s corporate priorities including corporate reporting, Human Resources, ID&E, Diversification, and other elements of the Corporate Strategy. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering employee engagement events and increasing employee engagement with team products.
Discipline Summary:
- A strategic thinker with demonstrated experience in communications planning and execution.
- Leverages knowledge of EDC to effectively develop and manage communication strategies across key internal audiences to raise awareness, increase understanding, and drive engagement.
- Leads the development and execution of cross-functional communications strategies and initiatives and is comfortable working closely with senior leaders in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective in influencing communications practices within an internal multi-stakeholder environment that includes senior executives.
- Executes various communication strategies to engage, inspire and connect employees.
What you will be doing:
- Develop and execute communications strategies for EDC’s corporate priority areas.
- Act as liaison between EDC subject-matter experts and the Corporate Communications group and provide expert communications advice to internal teams.
- Communicate corporate strategy priorities to increase employee engagement, foster multiway dialogue and build greater connection across EDC globally.
- Work with sister teams within Corporate Communications, as well as with Corporate Outreach, Government Relations, HR, Business teams, and Marketing and Sales Excellence, to develop and execute on communications strategies and initiatives.
- Contribute to briefings for Executive engagement opportunities.
- Advise senior executives and business teams on communications strategies and activities.
- Lead on aspects of EDC employee events taking place virtually or in-person.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement initiatives.
What we are looking for:
- Bilingual in both official languages (English and French).
- Completed an Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Journalism or in a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in communications, public relations, or related experience.
- Expertise and experience in employee-focused communications.
- Advanced knowledge of communications principles and practices.
- Experience in project management.
- Corporate issues management experience.
- Event planning and management experience.
- Proficient with digital tools including AI and MS Office Software Systems (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint).
