We are currently recruiting for a Senior Advisor, Employee and Labour Relations to work at our headquarters located in Ottawa, ON.
What you will be doing…
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Employee and Labour Relations, the Senior Employee and Labour Relations Advisor offers strategic guidance to managers and employees. This role focuses on addressing complex workplace challenges, ensuring consistent application of policies and procedures, and aligning practices with organizational goals and legal requirements.
Some of your responsibilities include…
- Advise managers and employees on defensible actions and compliant interpretations of legislation, collective agreements, and HR policies.
- Collaborate with Management to improve performance, ensure consistent corrective actions, and enhance client service delivery.
- Oversee sensitive employee cases, including workplace harassment, medical accommodations, and substance abuse case management.
- Manage formal complaints, prepare corporate responses for regulatory bodies, and maintain accurate case documentation.
- Lead grievance processes from initiation to resolution, including investigations and arbitration preparation, ensuring fair outcomes.
- Build collaborative relationships with union representatives and provide strategic guidance during collective bargaining preparations.
- Facilitate complex return-to-work and medical accommodation processes, liaising with employees, management, and medical professionals.
- Analyze and track absenteeism trends, offering guidance to managers and supporting employee wellness initiatives.
- Conduct comprehensive workplace investigations into harassment, violence, and other concerns, ensuring timely resolution.
- Participate in employee engagement initiatives, special projects, and committees to foster a positive workplace culture.

Your must-haves:
- Bilingualism (French/English) is a Required.
- Post-Secondary Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources (a combination of education and experience will be considered) CHRP, CHRL (asset).
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in employee and labour relations, including strategic advisory roles.
- Advanced knowledge of employment and labour legislation, including its application in unionized and non-unionized environments (e.g., Ontario Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, WSIB).
- Experience in policy development, implementation, and providing strategic HR advice.
- Secret Security Clearance (or eligibility to obtain).
