Senior Advisor - Agri-Food Business Development

Responsibilities

  • Develops, maintains, and enhances personal and business relationships with governments, agri-food associations/companies, as well as key opinion leaders/influencers in the Canadian agri-food space, with a specific emphasis on the Ontario food and beverage industry.
  • Expands/builds on existing network in the Canadian agri-food space.
  • Attends/participates in targeted agri-food association AGM’s/conferences as well as trade shows and consultations.
  • Attends/participates in prospect meetings, presentations, and other face-to-face meetings with identified prospects.
  • Attends/participates in government related meetings as appropriate.
  • Facilitates meetings/webinars/teams calls with clients/prospective clients on subjects of industry interest that align with the firm’s service lines.
  • Maintains client relationships by periodically connecting with target clients via teams calls, face-to-face meetings, as well as on the margins of Agri-Food Association AGM’s/conferences and trade shows.
  • Introduces MNP resources to target prospects identified by sub-contractor and/or MNP Partners/Senior Managers.
  • Makes Partners and Senior Managers in all service lines aware of potential work engagement opportunities.
  • Establishes relationships with referral sources such as banks, financial institutions, law firms, and grant writers.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of MNP service lines as well as Agriculture Niche and Food & Beverage Niche organizational structures.
  • Builds ongoing awareness of Federal-Provincial government agri-food related funding programs that would be of interest to Partners/Senior Managers and clients/prospective clients.
  • Facilitates, as appropriate, calls/meetings between Partners/Senior Managers/clients/prospective clients and government program funding contacts.
  • Gathers and distributes market intelligence on target prospects, opportunities, as well as issues that may have positive or negative implications on the firm’s interests.
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert/Subject Matter Advisor as part of MNP agri-food related proposals that are submitted to the Request for Proposal Process (RFP’s).
  • Exercises a high level of awareness in terms of identifying RFP’s that may be of interest for MNP to pursue.
  • Participates in the launch of secured agri-food related RFP work engagements and teams calls/meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintains and continues to develop client relationships during and post-project delivery.
  • Contributes to Agriculture Niche and Food & Beverage Niche strategic planning and implementation.
  • Participates in Business Development team, National Food & Beverage team, Agriculture GP’s teams calls as well as additional calls as appropriate.
  • Directly reports to the National Leader, Food and Beverage Processing (Mississauga) and functionally reports to Lethbridge.
  • Recommends and advises on corporate sponsorships of agri-food related events that provide the firm with maximum return on investment.

Skills and Experience

  • 15+ years of related experience in consulting, business development or account management, ideally within Agriculture.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Experience in prospecting, lead generation and lead process.
  • Proven people management, relationship building and leadership skills.
  • An ability to initiate and build relationships, credibility, and trust.
