Are you an experienced actuarial professional looking for an opportunity to work on impactful projects while maintaining an excellent work-life balance? We are seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst / Assistant Actuary in Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, or Vancouver. The job title will be determined based on experience. The candidate must have experience in DCDP Auto.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the Actuarial Director to implement Alberta’s new care model.
  2. Conduct actuarial analysis on insurance rates, rating procedures, and rating plans across personal and commercial lines (property, auto, casualty).
  3. Develop effective rating systems and provide actuarial support for rate filings.
  4. Work closely with the IT department to enhance and maintain underwriting systems related to pricing and reinsurance.
  5. Build insurance forecasting models and drive data analysis for reinsurance programs.
  6. Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure competitive and profitable product pricing.
  7. Support the Executive Team with data-driven insights.
  8. Stay informed about industry developments and provide strategic recommendations.
  9. Present actuarial models and insights in a clear, actionable manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  10. Participate in special projects and serve on company committees as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. ACAS/FCAS (or working towards) designation is a strong asset.
  2. 5+ years of property & casualty actuarial experience.
  3. Expertise in no-fault insurance rating (must-have).
  4. Proficiency in Excel, SQL, R, and VBA (advanced level).
  5. Experience with machine learning and/or mapping software (QGIS) is a plus.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  7. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex actuarial concepts to non-technical audiences.
  8. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
  9. Occasional travel within Canada may be required.

  1. ACAS
  2. ACAS Partial Completion
  3. FCAS
  4. University Degree
