Responsibilities

  • Be part of various teams serving customers in GST, QST and provincial sales tax planning and management mandates.
  • Assist in the interpretation and explanation of indirect tax legislation (GST, HST, QST and PST) on complex issues.
  • Correspond with clients and tax authorities to resolve clients' tax issues.
  • Review and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial and tax records and reports.
  • Participate in the preparation and delivery of service offers to meet client needs.
  • Think strategically about customer needs by understanding their business and key risks. Find ways to optimize customer relationships and add value.
  • Network and provide leadership to local professionals, businesses and the community, while promoting MNP and exploring new business development opportunities.
  • Collaborate in the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
  • Attend internal MNP and external training sessions to enhance knowledge.
  • Effectively manage professional designation studies and work simultaneously, as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong interest in indirect taxes and practice development.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, law or related field.
  • Certified professional accountant (CPA), lawyer or notary designation is an asset.
  • Completion of a master’s degree in taxation, the 2nd cycle microprogram in commodity taxes, or the CPA Canada Indirect Tax Fundamentals course is an asset.
  • 2 to 4 years' relevant work experience in public accounting or taxation.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel sporadically within Quebec and Canada.
