Black Diamond Group’s Corporate Finance team has a full-time position for Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting. This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Senior Accountant will be part of the financial reporting team. The position encompasses a multitude of accounting activities under tight deadlines, including the preparation of accurate and timely financial and operational accounting deliverables, data analysis, account reconciliations, and year-end and quarterly audit/review preparation for Black Diamond and its Indigenous Partnerships.

The ideal candidate in this role demonstrates a proactive approach and initiative when handling reporting and analytical activities to ensure that all tasks are handled efficiently, professionally and in a timely manner. This person must be highly organized, with excellent time management and planning skills, and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare annual financial statements and supporting working papers for Black Diamond’s Indigenous Partnerships in accordance with IFRS, coordinate communication & information internally, and act as the primary audit contact with external auditors.
  2. Prepare quarterly reports for Black Diamond’s Indigenous Partnerships which includes detailed qualitative and quantitative data analysis for presentation to Senior Management and distribution to Indigenous partners.
  3. Prepare various working papers in support of Black Diamond’s quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A.
  4. Prepare various financial and operational analysis for the desk and field audits relating to Black Diamond’s credit facility.
  5. Prepare quarterly internal financial statements for various Black Diamond legal entities for management, tax, and board review.
  6. Assist with the maintenance of the company’s financial close including data clean-up, validation and participate in new ERP implementation.
  7. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments.
  8. Proactively identify and assist in the implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the financial reporting group.
  9. Coach and mentor other team members.
  10. Assist with ad hoc requests as required.

Qualifications

  1. CPA designation is required.
  2. Experience in preparing year-end packages, including financial statements and notes.
  3. Previous experience in internal and external audits.
  4. Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  5. Proven analytical skills and demonstrated initiative to problem solve.
  6. Possess a professional and ethical attitude with the ability to manage concurrent deadlines.
  7. Working experience with SAP Business One, NetSuite, Wdesk and Oracle EPM Cloud considered an asset.
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of professional interaction with various levels of operations and other departments.
  9. Pro-active, self-starter.
  10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  11. Enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated team player with excellent customer service skills.
  12. Must be fluent in English, both oral and written.
