Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting will be responsible for managing day-to-day activities of the financial reporting team. They will prepare supporting schedules for external reporting purposes and implement reporting best practices.
As the Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting you will…
- Support the preparation of quarterly and annual filings and related public reporting requirements and disclosures;
- Responsible for financial reporting software and integrity of information contained within;
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and ongoing continuous disclosure requirements;
- Assist in documentation of transactions, their accounting impact, and required disclosures, including significant contracts, acquisitions, debt and equity offerings and other complex transactions;
- Assist with general accounting close as needed;
- Support external auditors with audit process;
- Liaise with external consultants on various corporate matters;
- Participate in IT system migrations or upgrades for various applications;
- Maintain internal controls over financial reporting as required by SOX and NI 52-109;
- Assist on ad hoc projects as required.
You would be the best fit for this role if you have…
- University degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field;
- Professional accounting designation or near completion of a CPA designation;
- Minimum 3 years work experience with a public company or 3 years in a public accounting practice working on public companies.
Bonus points if you have…
- Thorough knowledge of IFRS;
- Adept at using Excel and knowledge of other analytical reporting tools;
- Exposure to financial reporting applications an asset;
- Able to prioritize and operate with a sense of urgency;
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and recommend solutions;
- Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with complex data in an environment of ever-changing deadlines, priorities, and requirements;
- Effective communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with the finance team.
