Sr. Accountant / Accounting Manager
This role is accountable for the accounting operations of the company including the production of regulatory and financial reports, maintenance of a reliable system of accounting records. This role involves coordinating with various departments to streamline financial operations and improve reporting processes.
- Manage all accounting day-to-day operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
- Process month/year end reconciliations, accruals, working papers, performance reports, etc.
- Prepare and publish timely and accurate monthly financials (NI, BS & cashflow), actual vs budget and KPI reports.
- Oversee and ensure accuracy for retail and e-commerce transactions integration into accounting software.
- Process indirect suppliers’ invoices in QuickBooks and weekly cheque run through RBC Express.
- Supervise current office manager, human resource and future administration employees as needed.
- Collaborate with plant management to analyze and optimize manufacturing processes, identify cost-reduction opportunities, and enhance profitability.
- Support budgeting, financial forecasts and report variances.
- Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of transactions by implementing internal controls and checks.
- Manage and comply with government regulatory reporting and sales tax filing requirements.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Support the CEO and company management with establishment and tracking of objectives and performance metrics to assist in meeting company vision and goals.
- Provide financial analyses as required for capital investments, projects, budget preparations and business decisions.
- Develop and mentor personnel to provide for a strong team to meet current and future departmental requirements.
- Other tasks and duties as required by management.
Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (required), CPA certification or equivalent professional designation (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisor or management role.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of all financial functions and how they interact.
- ‘Roll up your sleeves’ mentality when an unfamiliar problem arises.
- Ability to build good working relationships.
- Food industry, Nutra Soft and QuickBooks experiences are an asset.
- Periodic weekend or evening work is expected.
