Rubicon Organics' mission is to grow the best cannabis on Earth and for the Earth and today we are doing just that out of our state-of-the-art greenhouse facility located in Delta, B.C. We are growing and expanding quickly while on our journey to achieving our vision to be the global brand leader in organic cannabis. This hybrid position (requiring 3+ days in-person each week), based out of our Downtown Vancouver office, is an opportunity to take everything you have learned in your career and apply it within a fast-paced, high growth company.

As we continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage our day-to-day financial transactions and activities. This role demands a blend of technical accounting expertise, process improvement capabilities, and a collaborative mindset to ensure the smooth operation of our financial systems. In this key position, the Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in driving efficiency and scalability within the finance function, identifying opportunities for process optimization across the organization.

Beyond technical expertise, the Senior Accountant serves as a key liaison between finance and other departments, providing valuable insights and fostering cross-functional collaboration. Additionally, they play a critical role in mentoring and coaching team members, strengthening the overall accounting team and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage sales invoicing, cash receipt reconciliations, and resolve customer account discrepancies.
  • Supervise month-end close procedures, ensuring the timely preparation and review of relevant activities.
  • Prepare and submit reports for governmental agencies, including B300 filings.
  • Drive process improvements and collaborate with internal teams to optimize financial reporting and streamline operations.
  • Assist with requests to support the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support audits and other ad-hoc projects as required.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to analyze financial performance, spot trends, and aid in strategic business decision-making.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation (or in progress) is preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Cannabis 365, Dynamics 365 preferred) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
