The Senior Accountant’s key responsibilities include general ledger accounting functions, financial reporting, process improvement, business partnering, compliance, audit, coaching and mentoring the AP and AR teams.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensure accuracy in financial reporting and review balance sheet reconciliations. Improve financial processes to ensure efficiency in meeting deadlines.
  • Manage quarterly forecasting / yearly budget preparation.
  • Manage weekly and monthly cash flow projections.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.
  • Prepare and file monthly commodity tax as well as prepare supporting documents for corporate tax filing and Royalties NR4.
  • Mentor junior team members in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger (capital and Corp/commodity taxes).
  • Support F&A team with workflow process improvement and special projects.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align F&A capabilities with company expansion and evolving business needs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust internal control framework to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage / Administrate Concur travel and entertainment expenses system and fleet program.
  • Manage insurance administration/claims.
  • Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and projects as requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including AR, AP, and Capex in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, general accounting, Corp & commodity tax, budget/ forecast and best practices.
  • Experience as a team lead is preferred.
  • Proficiency in GAAP / ASPE and local tax regulation.
  • Knowledge of internal controls, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Oracle ERP), Concur Travel and Entertainment system.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools like Advance Excel, Power BI, or Tableau is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Physical Effort: Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 20lbs.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 2 days in-person requirement.
