Nunastar Properties Inc. is actively searching for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will not only play a pivotal part in shaping and maintaining the overall accounting functions but will specifically focus on hospitality accounting, contributing to the success and growth of Nunastar Properties Inc.

The Opportunity:

As a Senior Accountant reporting directly to the Controller, you will be at the forefront of managing and optimizing the financial operations. Your unwavering attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, and solid financial background will be instrumental in our continued success. We are seeking a consummate professional with excellent communication skills who can efficiently manage multiple tasks, even under tight deadlines, while embracing an innovative mindset focused on continuous improvement.

  • Full Time: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday
  • Compensation: $70,000 - $82,000 per annum
  • Position Type: Permanent, Salaried

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Actively communicate and work with the operations team that are in a remote location
  • Produce high quality accounting reports
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Provide technical support and advice to management
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Classify, code, and summarize numerical and financial data
  • Prepare, maintain, audit, and distribute statistical, financial, accounting, auditing, or payroll reports and tables
  • Complete period-end closing procedures and reports
  • Prepare, review, reconcile, and issue bills, invoices, and account statements according to company procedures
  • Follow-up and resolve past due accounts and vendor invoices until payment in full is received or resolved
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and annual operating budgets
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • CPA designation or currently enrolled in the CPA program preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive financial experience, including year-end processing
  • Experience in hotel operations accounting is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and other accounting software
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data entry skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
