Job description

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants around Edmonton to join teams at various schools. The successful candidate will support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they have equal access to learning and a positive school experience. Beginning ASAP.

Duties as SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support students with SEN in the classroom, adapting learning materials to meet their individual needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans.
  • Assist with developing students' communication, social, and academic skills.
  • Provide emotional and behavioural support to help students thrive in a learning environment.
  • Foster an inclusive and nurturing atmosphere where all children feel valued.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to support student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student development and report on progress.

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children with SEN (preferred but not essential).
  • A relevant qualification in childcare, teaching support, or SEN (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Strong communication, patience, and empathy when working with students as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and specialists.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to student welfare.
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
