Seeking Grants and Partnerships Enthusiasts: Volunteer Grant Writer Opportunity

5-20 hours/monthly

December 15, 2024 - March 15, 2025

Join Kaleidoscope Mental Health Support Society as a Volunteer Grant Writer and play a pivotal role in securing funding for programs that create lasting change in mental health support and peer engagement. Bring your creativity, research skills, and enthusiasm for making a difference to help Kaleidoscope grow its innovative projects. Together, we can amplify voices, foster equity, and transform mental health and substance use services.

Kaleidoscope is a BC-based registered charity dedicated to providing free and low-cost, community-based mental health support and training. We aim to foster connection, inclusion, and empowerment for individuals through innovative peer support and training programs. Our mission includes amplifying the voices of those with lived experience and creating systemic change in mental health and substance use (MHSU) organizations.

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented volunteer to join our team as a Grant Writer. In this role, you will work closely with our team to identify funding opportunities, draft compelling grant proposals, and support the growth of Kaleidoscope’s programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research potential funding opportunities, including government grants, foundation grants, and corporate sponsorships.
  2. Collaborate with staff and board members to understand project goals and funding needs.
  3. Write and edit grant proposals, applications, and supporting documents.
  4. Track deadlines and submission requirements for multiple funding opportunities.
  5. Assist in preparing budgets and other financial documentation for proposals, as needed.
  6. Maintain accurate records of submitted applications and track outcomes.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  2. Familiarity with grant writing or willingness to learn (training and support provided).
  3. Ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
  4. Research skills to identify and evaluate funding opportunities.
  5. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  6. Passion for mental health, peer support, or community-based initiatives is an asset.
