Job description

Under the general direction of the Manager, Security, this position is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day activities of security operations at the site level. Provides input on performance evaluations. Assists with the implementation of all new security operations initiatives. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Provides input for team member performance objectives and evaluations
  2. Mentors, coaches and trains front line security staff, including best practices for the non-gaming record keeping system
  3. Verifies security timesheets
  4. Monitors, documents and reports internal and external violations, unsafe conditions, potential hazards, suspicious persons and activities of the entire property as directed; prepares electronic statements via a non-gaming record keeping system
  5. Enrolls guests into the Self-Exclusion Program
  6. Oversees crowd control for special events
  7. Administers and maintains various critical security systems (e.g., Key Control, WINPAC, SIMS, Threat Management System)
  8. Enforces restricted access by unauthorized persons
  9. Observes cashier transactions and slot drops (if applicable); escorts cash and cash equivalent movements
  10. Conducts regular patrols of the entire property as directed; identifies risks and conditions that present safety issues for team members, guests, facility and company assets
  11. Provides or assists with First Aid for team members and guests
  12. Tags and reports found property; transfers to Lost and Found
  13. Responds to, resolves or escalates security issues
  14. May escort guests and team members or assign escort duties as required
  15. Performs identification checks as required
  16. Performs crowd control
  17. Liaises and communicates effectively with all operational departments
  18. Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership, team members, regulatory bodies and police authorities
  19. Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  20. Performs other duties as assigned or directed

Education and Qualifications

  1. Post Secondary education or suitable combination of education and experience
  2. Minimum 2 years security experience in a gaming environment; supervisory experience an asset; surveillance experience an asset
  3. Must be willing to recertify every 3 years for Use of Force
  4. Occupational First Aid level 2 an asset
  5. Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License
  6. Can understand, speak and write English; fluency in other languages an asset
  7. Computer literacy in MS Office
  8. Liquor Service Certification (e.g., Serving It Right)
