We at One Community Solutions provide a unique service which involves working with vulnerable populations currently made up of individuals who are battling homelessness, drug addictions, and mental health issues. We build understanding and respect with the clients and staff to help create safe environments in and out of the shelters.
Our CST's (Community Safety Team) work 24 hours a day doing patrols in neighborhoods, cleaning up drug paraphernalia, and keeping watch at local schools (from daycares to high schools) to ensure the continued safety of children, teens, and pets in the area.

Essential Duties for this position are as follows:
- Lead the Community Safety Teams by example, overseeing, educating, and performing the day-to-day responsibilities of a Community Safety Team Partner.
- Escort and provide assistance to One Community Solutions Clients at their work-site, which could include assistance with meal service, collecting and distributing linens, cleaning, and maintaining the property.
- Routinely perform perimeter checks, wellness checks, and environmental checks.
- Ensure access to worksite areas is being monitored and controlled.
- Respond to crisis situations and overdoses.
- Patrol designated areas while collecting and clearing drug paraphernalia and responding to community calls for clean-up.
- Interact with local residents and businesses and serve as a community liaison.
- Respond to community calls to address or remove vulnerable people on private property.
- Provide reasonable assistance to residents and shelter staff in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Conduct Health & Safety audits as necessary.
- Manage staff schedules and time cards, ensuring that each staff member punches in and out of their shift.
- Address absenteeism, tardiness, behavioral, and ethical issues among the team you are supervising.
- Communicate with the senior management team regarding individual and team performance.
- Lead huddles and briefings with your team.
- Communicate updates and important information prior to arriving for or leaving your shift to the Supervisors, ensuring that the shift before and after has a clear understanding of anyone restricted, any trespassers, new clients, or updates to procedures and processes.
- Track the number of sharps containers being filled.
- Track the number of incidents responded to in the community and the details of those incidents.
- Track the number of overdoses responded to or care provided.
- Manage equipment inventory.
- Assist with administrative tasks and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Prior experience working in a customer service-oriented environment.
- Leadership experience is a strong asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including conflict resolution, decision making, situational assessments, and problem solving.
- Valid Security Guard License is considered an asset.
- Valid certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR level ‘C’ are considered an asset.
- Knowledge of legislative policies such as the Criminal Code, Trespass to Property Act, and WHMIS is considered an asset.
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
