The Security Installation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and servicing security systems for commercial and industrial clients. This role involves handling various types of security equipment, such as alarms, cameras, access control systems, and fire safety devices. Technicians may also troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary, ensuring that systems are working effectively to provide security for the property and its occupants.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Installation
Install security systems, including alarms, surveillance cameras, access control systems, fire alarms, and other security devices.
Ensure the correct placement of equipment for optimal functionality (e.g., camera angles, alarm sensor placement).
Perform initial system configuration and testing to ensure systems are functional.
Maintenance & Repair
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on installed systems.
Troubleshoot issues with security systems, such as faulty alarms, non-functional cameras, or system malfunctions.
Repair or replace faulty equipment and components.
Client Interaction
Communicate with clients to understand their security needs and provide system recommendations.
Offer on-site consultations, explaining the features and benefits of various security systems.
Provide post-installation support and user training to clients on system usage.
Documentation
Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs performed.
Complete service reports and document any changes to the systems.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all installations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Follow industry best practices and safety standards during installations and maintenance tasks.
Experience:
3 – 7 years of experience working with Access Control & Network CCTV equipment.
Knowledge of computer networking is required as it is related to IP security systems.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
