Site Description: Georgetown Hospital, located in Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, is a community hospital that is part of the Halton Healthcare group. Established in 1961 on a 17-acre site, it serves residents of both the Halton and Peel Regions. The hospital offers a range of medical and surgical services, including general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, ear, nose and throat (ENT), and urology procedures. It also provides long-term patient care and supportive housing, with nurses and support workers assisting seniors in designated apartments. The emergency department operates 24/7 and handles over 35,000 patient visits annually.

Position: Full-Time Security Guard Site: Georgetown Hospital Address: 1 Princess Anne Dr, Georgetown, ON L7G 2B8 Hours: Rotating Continental (0700-1900/ 1900-0700 hrs.) Pay Rate: $19.19/hr.- $21.59/hr. based on levelling system
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Job Skills / Requirements
Key responsibilities:

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.

• A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services would be an asset
• Proof of double Covid Vaccination
• Immunization Record (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and TB skin tests 1 and 2)
• Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
• Able to work in outdoor weather conditions for long periods
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)

• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB Pre-employment certification training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position.
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB Pre-employment certification training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability.

Education Requirements (Any): High School Diploma/GED
Certification Requirements (All): Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB), Proof of immunizations for TB, MMR, Varicella, Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, Valid Ontario Security License, Use of Force.
