JOB TITLE: 4 Hour Driver

School: Transportation

School Year: 2024-2025

Reports to: Director of Transportation

Bargaining Unit: CTA

Status: Continuing

Start Date: When Filled

End Date: 07/01/2025

Days Per Year: 180

Wage Range: $25.76 - $30.92 (Dependent on Experience)

Note: Employees are paid the last working day of each month.

Position Summary:

Operates school buses under all types of weather conditions. Transports students and other authorized persons over regular to and from school routes, on field trips, extracurricular activities, and special or extra activity trips as authorized by school district officials.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Transport assigned students to and from schools, shelters, transitional housing or other areas as necessary in a safe and timely manner.
• Operate any and all school buses on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips in support of district approved activities.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections as required by State and district policy.
• Maintain control of student passengers related to safety. Report unsafe acts or conditions to the Transportation Director and school building Administrator.
• Complete all records as required by State and district policy.
• Operate a school bus in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington and district policy.
• Perform other school bus driver related duties as directed by district policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Five years driving experience with a valid driver’s license.

Required Qualifications:

• Must satisfactorily complete OSPI school bus authorization class, pass the DOT physical, and the CDL training and testing.
• Pass random drug tests.

Desired Qualifications:

• Possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements.
• Successfully complete First Aid class with CPR training or possess a valid card.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to various environmental factors.
