ABOUT OUR OPERATION

The objective of Sanajiksanut is to increase Inuit manpower in all of AEM’s Nunavut operations by contributing to the development of skills and competencies of the Inuit population in the Kivalliq region. The Sanajiksanut Process is composed of different steps to gain employment: Employment Information Session, Online Application, Pre-employment Training, and Employment. In completing these stages, applicants will better prepare themselves for the labour market as well as for a potential job opportunity with AEM or one of its contractors.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

We are looking for potential candidates interested to work for the Energy & Infrastructure department to both Meadowbank Complex and Meliadine Mine (Contractor and AEM positions).

TASKS:

  • Operate heavy machinery equipment, such as loader, excavator, dozer, grader, backhoe, container handler, compactor and articulated truck;
  • Follow good practices in terms of site maintenance;
  • Perform field services such as snow removal, muck transfer, road maintenance and site fuel delivery;
  • Ensure that all equipment is operated in such a way as to avoid premature breakage;
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Heavy equipment certificate/training or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 4000 hours of experience on the equipment (loader, excavator, dozer, grader, backhoe, compactor, container handler and articulated truck);
  • Driver’s license Class 5 or equivalent;
  • Driver's license Class 3 is considered an asset;
  • Possess the physical requirements to perform the job;
  • Possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written);
  • Positions reserved for Inuit candidates.
