Sample Prep Student (4 month) - Kamloops, BC

Job Description

Intertek (BML) is a commercial laboratory which specializes in recovery of base and precious metals from raw mineralization. We are looking for a student to join our team for 4 months from May to August.

General Description Of Responsibilities

To receive, prepare, and ship samples to conduct laboratory testing as requested by the client.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Prepare and complete work orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (load, pack, wrap, label, ship)
2. Receive and process warehouse stock products (pick, unload, label, store)
3. Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization
4. Complete shipping logs and system inventory
5. Report any discrepancies
6. Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers
7. Operate and maintain preventively warehouse vehicles and equipment
8. Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
9. Crushing and screening drill core and bulk rock samples
10. Splitting material into charges for testing
11. Weighing, screening, and/or pulverizing test products
12. Preparing products for assay
13. General maintenance of equipment
14. Keeping the lab in a generally clean condition

Job Requirements

1. Ability to lift 25kg
2. Experience in shipping
3. Experience with Excel
4. Forklift license is an asset

Salary & Benefits Information
The base wage or salary range for this position is $20.00 per hour. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
