Overview:

This new role, born out of Greenhouse's exciting growth trajectory, the Sales Strategy Manager will be a key driver in accelerating both short-term and long-term goals across distribution, market share, and operational efficiency. This high-impact position will connect the dots between customer, syndicated, and internal data to inform strategic sales and marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate will turn data into actionable insights, streamline reporting, and elevate trade strategies while playing a critical role in annual planning and other core commercial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Data & Business Insights

  1. Analyze customer, syndicated (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, SPINS), and internal data to uncover key trends, growth opportunities, risks, actionable insights and develop critical sell stories.
  2. Design and maintain dashboards and performance reports that deliver timely, relevant insights to cross-functional teams—focusing on innovation tracking, customer planning, master promotional calendars, and competitive benchmarking.
  3. Deliver data-driven recommendations to improve promotional ROI and overall trade effectiveness.
  4. Collaborate in the sales consensus and demand review process alongside Sales and Operations/Production Planning teams, leveraging forecasting and demand analysis to guide sales and supply chain decisions—with a focus on innovation forecasts, promo lifts, and volume planning.

Trade Marketing & Customer Support

  1. Serve as a strategic partner to Sales by delivering compelling category insights, promotional performance analysis, and high-impact customer-facing presentations.
  2. Lead ongoing trade spend analysis to identify efficiency opportunities and partner with Sales to optimize promotional investments that drive profitable growth and margin expansion across in-store and digital trade levers.
  3. Support flawless execution of customer plans—including pricing strategy, trade programs, and in-market activations—to ensure alignment with commercial goals.
  4. Collaborate with Marketing to develop ‘gold standard’ category playbooks by channel and geography, covering key levers like assortment, merchandising, and promotion—all grounded in fact-based category and competitive insights.
  5. Partner with Marketing to ensure timely development and deployment of sales tools, POS materials, and promotional assets for executional excellence.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  1. Support the preparation of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and key customer presentations with data-driven insights.
  2. Provide ad hoc reporting and insights to address emerging business needs and opportunities.
  3. Assist in annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for sales teams.

Key Skills:

  1. Strong analytical skills with experience using syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, SPINS) and customer POS data.
  2. Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and/or other data visualization tools.
  3. Good commercial instincts and an understanding of compelling presentation materials and the creation of them.
  4. Understanding of trade spend management, promotional ROI analysis, and category management principles.
  5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  6. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  7. Experience in CPG, food & beverage, or similar environments preferred.

Experience & Qualifications:

  1. 3-5 years of experience in data analytics, trade marketing, category management, or sales support in a CPG environment. It is an asset if you have also held direct account management/customer-facing role(s).
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  3. Experience working cross-functionally with sales, marketing, finance, and supply chain teams.
