Job Summary

The Sales Representative reports to the Zone Manager or designate and is responsible for driving sales within their defined territory. Critical skills include the ability to manage key relationships, prioritize sales activities, open new accounts as well as maintain/service existing hardware stores, home centers, and large retail chains. They are also responsible for assisting in forecasting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Travel and visit customers in Central and Northern Ontario.
  • Servicing, promoting, selling products in an established territory.
  • Developing new accounts through prospecting and cold calling.
  • Maintaining consistent call cycles with all accounts.
  • Coordinating with sales manager and corporate office personnel to determine customer needs and ensure that their needs will be handled appropriately.
  • Preparing documents such as plan-o-grams, orders, and pricing.
  • Completing administrative duties including submitting monthly business reports, weekly sales call schedule and weekly expense report.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma or higher.
  • 3-5 years’ experience selling in the hardware environment preferred.
  • Travel within established territory is required.
  • Must be able to travel overnight – 2-3 times a month.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must have a reliable car for travel
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office) specifically MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Performs function with a sense of purpose and a degree of urgency.
  • Creates a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on teamwork.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills (oral & written).
