Purpose:

Reporting to the Manager of Sales, the Sales Representative is responsible for establishing and growing business relationships with customers as well as observing superior standards of customer service at Messer Canada Inc. This role will focus efforts on business development for your region and Messer Canada Inc. corporately.

What you’ll do:

  • Identify and attract new customers while maintaining existing relationships to increase Messer sales and exceed customer expectations.
  • Win, retain, and grow all profitable managed customer accounts between $5k - $100k annually to contribute to the achievement of sales, service, and profit targets for a specified sales area.
  • Promote Value Added selling practices.
  • Support and deliver sales strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Specialty/Technical Sales, retail, and support functions to deliver targets.
  • Contribute to the overall performance of the Region as a member of the Regional Retail/Sales team.
  • Work with our safety team to ensure safety compliance.
  • Support Branch initiatives related to inventory, receivables, profitability, and distribution.

What it takes:

Education and Experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • IP – Welding or similar trade qualifications desirable
  • 2+ years sales experience, preferably within an industrial environment

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Commercial competence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of modern business systems
  • SAP skills desirable
  • Messer product knowledge desirable
  • Delivery of exceptional sales targets
  • Understanding processes and mechanical proficiency
  • Capable of developing sales proposals
  • Proficient with PowerPoint, and excellent presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel
