Reporting to the Regional Vice President, the Sales Manager is responsible for leading the sales efforts within the civil construction sector with a focus on steel products. This role involves developing and implementing sales strategies, managing a team of direct reports, fostering client relationships, and achieving sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement sales strategies to penetrate the civil construction market segment with a focus on AIL’s core products. Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
  2. Team Management: Lead and motivate a team of sales professionals. Provide guidance, coaching, and training to ensure team members achieve their individual and collective sales targets. Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  3. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients in the civil construction industry. Understand client needs, anticipate future requirements, and provide solutions that align with their objectives. Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries and concerns. Reviews contracts and negotiates terms alongside sales representatives.
  4. Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Prepare accurate sales forecasts based on market analysis, historical data, and input from the sales team. Monitor sales performance against targets and provide regular reports to senior management. Identify deviations from the sales plan and implement corrective measures as needed. Develops a regional sales and expense budget and holds sales team accountable towards these budgets.
  5. Product Promotion and Marketing: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional campaigns and marketing materials aimed at promoting steel products within the civil construction sector. Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to showcase products and expand the customer base. Travel throughout the region with sales representatives to promote AIL’s products and mentor the sales representatives.
  6. Pricing Strategy: Work closely with the pricing team to establish competitive pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining attractive to customers. Monitor pricing trends and adjust strategies as necessary to maintain competitiveness in the market. Work with the sales representatives to become trusted advisors to build deep relationships with customers and influence specifications to be a sole source provider.
  7. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as production, logistics, engineering, customer service and external vendors to ensure smooth order processing, timely delivery, and customer satisfaction. Communicate customer requirements and feedback to relevant departments/ vendors for continuous improvement.
  8. Compliance and Ethics: Ensure all sales activities comply with legal and ethical standards. Uphold company policies and procedures related to sales operations, pricing, and contract negotiations. Promote a culture of integrity and professionalism within the sales team.
  9. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, engineering, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in sales management, preferably in the civil engineering or construction industry with a focus on steel products.
  3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and make strategic decisions.
  6. Proficiency in sales forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
  7. Knowledge of civil engineering principles and steel materials is desirable.
  8. Familiarity with CRM software and sales analytics tools.
  9. Commitment to ethical business practices and customer satisfaction.
