We are actively looking for a HR Partner focused on People & Culture.

The People & Culture - HR Partner plays a key role in supporting Indigenous employees throughout their journey at PLATO—from training to full-time employment. This national role focuses on identifying and addressing potential challenges that may impact employee engagement, retention, and overall well-being. By providing guidance, resources, and mentorship, the People & Culture - HR Partner ensures Indigenous employees across Canada feel supported in both their professional and personal development, fostering long-term career success. Additionally, this role supports company-wide efforts to create an inclusive and diverse workplace that extends beyond Indigenous employees, ensuring that all employees feel valued and respected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years' experience in a related advisory, counseling, case management, or social services role.
  • Experience providing one-on-one and group mentorship in professional or community settings.
  • Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, values, and challenges.
  • Degree or diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Indigenous Studies, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred, OR equivalent experience in Indigenous advocacy, workforce support, or employee relations.
  • Strong ability to build trust, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive conversations with empathy and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Develops strong, trusting relationships with Indigenous employees to understand and address factors affecting their workplace experience, career progression, and personal well-being.
  • Provides guidance and access to internal and external resources related to career growth, personal development, work-life balance, and overall well-being.
  • Facilitates referrals to community-based support services, professional counseling, and mentorship programs.
  • Creates a safe and inclusive environment for Indigenous employees to discuss challenges and identify solutions.
  • Collaborates with the training department to assess new student cohorts, providing input on readiness for training and potential for successful program completion.
  • Acts as a liaison between Indigenous employees, Training, HR, and Leadership to improve cultural safety and ensure equitable workplace practices.
  • Provides cultural awareness and sensitivity training to PLATO managers and employees to enhance understanding of Indigenous workplace experiences.
  • Establishes and maintains connections with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous organizations, and community partners to provide additional support and mentorship for employees.
  • Supports broader diversity and inclusion initiatives within the company to ensure an equitable work environment for all employees, including those from other underrepresented backgrounds.
