DUTIES

The Sales and Service Advisor is a customer-facing role responsible for overseeing the service operations at Harbor Vue Marina, including storage and sales. This role involves working with a dynamic team to ensure exceptional service and fostering strong customer relationships.

FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Schedule Marine service appointments by listening to customer’s description of symptoms; clarifying the description of problems; conducting inspections; checking prior service records; examining service schedules.
  2. Check boats in and out of property ensuring all outstanding account balances are paid prior to vessels leaving the property.
  3. Verify warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and coverage plans; explaining provisions and exclusions to customers as needed.
  4. Develop estimates by costing materials, supplies, parts, and labour; calculating customer’s payment, including deductibles.
  5. Prepare work orders (WO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering WO into service database system.
  6. Maintain customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vessel; obtaining customer’s approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging pick up/deliveries as required.
  7. Maintain accurate records by updating WOs, adding parts/labour, and finalizing invoices.
  8. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers’ publications.
  9. Assist as required in Major Item Sales such as P/A, loose motors, boat packages.
  10. Assist as required with purchasing/receiving of P/A.
  11. Other duties as assigned.
  12. Maintain excellent customer service relationships while effectively addressing and resolving customer concerns in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of one to two (1-2) years of experience as a marine sales/service advisor preferred.
  3. Hold a valid boat operator’s license.
  4. Demonstrated extensive knowledge of different types of boats and their mechanics.
  5. Highly responsive and committed to delivering exceptional customer satisfaction in a timely manner.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
