GENERAL SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this role is to drive and coordinate banquet catering sales for the hotel. You will develop and execute strategic sales initiatives, identify new business opportunities, and cultivate strong relationships with both existing and potential clients. In addition, you will be responsible for negotiating meeting room rental rates and food & beverage pricing. This position also involves managing all aspects of event coordination, from food and beverage selection to room setup and service timing, ensuring that client expectations are consistently exceeded. By working closely with cross-functional hotel teams, you will ensure that sales efforts are aligned with the hotel's overall business objectives. Additionally, you will monitor market trends and competitor activities to uncover opportunities for growth and continuous improvement.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Strong sales and coordination skills with a deep understanding of sales techniques, ability to up-sell products and services, and a proven record of successful events.
  • Experience in providing an effective, positive, collaborative, productive work environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Delphi, MRDW, FOSSE, and Microsoft Office Suite (an asset).
  • Knowledge of Food and Beverage including Banquets & Catering.
  • Knowledge of hospitality marketing and experience in developing & executing marketing strategies.
  • Aggressive, self-motivated work habits and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Must be available to work some nights and/or weekends.
  • Ability to communicate and write in both English and French.
  • Making decisive decisions to drive the hotel’s success.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university or college in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 3 years’ experience in sales and marketing, revenue management or related professional area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to customer inquiries promptly and professionally, providing detailed information about catering and banquet services, availability, and pricing to ensure a seamless client experience.
  • Coordinate and conduct venue tours and meetings with clients, ensuring a thorough understanding of their event needs and preferences, while displaying the hotel’s facilities and services.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with clients before, during, and after events, ensuring a positive experience at every stage and encouraging repeat business and client referrals.
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and preferences, actively listening and providing tailored ideas, recommendations, and solutions to meet their event requirements.
  • Confirm all event details with clients, including specifications for food, beverage, room setup, and timing, and accurately document this information in the Banquet Event Order (BEO) to ensure smooth execution. Initiate billing procedures, ensuring any deposits and other payments are received with adequate information and within an acceptable time frame.
  • Oversee day-of event execution, ensuring that all agreed-upon details are delivered, including room setups, service timing, and client requests, through direct coordination and on-site management.
  • Verify and ensure accurate billing for each event, confirming that all services, food and beverage charges, and additional fees are correctly invoiced and processed in accordance with client agreements. Identify new markets and business opportunities to increase sales.
  • Analyze the hotel’s demand segments, sources of business, and primary competitors to identify trends and opportunities, providing guidance to the property team on pricing strategies and inventory management to optimize revenue and profitability.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and engaged team environment within the sales department and across all hotel functions, ensuring open communication and effective teamwork to achieve shared goals.
  • Support the hotel’s service and relationship strategy by consistently delivering exceptional service in every customer interaction, fostering customer loyalty, and enhancing long-term relationships.
  • Ensure optimal banquet service delivery by closely monitoring all aspects of the event to exceed client expectations, aiming to achieve excellent guest satisfaction ratings and positive feedback.
  • Input and manage event details in relevant systems to ensure accurate coordination, seamless billing, and timely payment processing, ensuring a smooth event experience from start to finish.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of menu options, pricing strategies, and service packages, ensuring a variety of offerings to meet client needs and preferences while remaining competitive in the market.
  • Conduct regular competitive market analysis to ensure that pricing for products and services is accurate, competitive, and aligned with industry trends, maximizing profitability while remaining attractive to clients.
  • Maximize annual meeting room rental sales by strategically aligning rental pricing and usage to drive increased food and beverage revenue, ensuring optimal profitability for each event.
